Are you using lighting invented 125 years ago?

LIGHTING REVOLUTIONIZED™

Incandescent light bulbs were invented 125 years ago by Thomas Edison and very little has changed since. More than 75% of the light sources we use are of this technology! Fluorescent lights were invented in the 1920s and are amongst the most efficient light sources available. The drawbacks are; they must use ballasts to step-up the voltage, are bulky in size and the old style take a long time to turn on. Variations of these two technologies have been invented to improve their shortcomings but nothing has addressed all of the challenges.

LIGHTING REVOLUTIONIZED™

The latest in lighting technology is Solid-state Lighting (SSL) which overcomes most of the challenges of the other lighting technologies. The most common device in SSL technology is Light Emitting Diode (LED). It is a highly efficient technology for turning electricity into light, rivaling the efficiency of fluorescent lamps.

Cyron's lighting products primarily use SSL as their light source. It is our belief that SSL technology will replace 40% of our conventional lights within the next decade. For certain applications this time frame will be much more accelerated. There is a tramendous growth in the automotive industry, traffic lights/signs, electronic devices, etc.

So, why LED?

There are several advantages to LED lighting over the conventional lights currently used:

  1. Efficiency:
LED uses much less power vs. incandescent light bulb (normally 80% less). It is a must for battery-powered devices!

  2. Longevity:
Its long life practically eliminates the need of ever replacing them. Typical LED will last 50,000 hours. 100,000-hour units are also in full production. An incandescent bulb normally lasts 2,500 hours. Theoretically the highest quality fluorescent lamps will last 10,000 hours.

  3. Less Wiring:
Lower operational voltage & amperage reduceS line voltage drop. That means less wiring cost and brighter lights.

  4. Resilient:
    Virtually water proof by itself.

  5. Durable:
Shock and vibration proof unlike bulbs, florescent, or neon. This is where the theoretical life of other light bulbs will fail. All other lighting technologies will rapidly fail when exposed to constant shock and vibration. Common sources of such are fixtures in ceiling with another floor above them, road vinbration for automotives and high sound pressure levels just to name a few.

  6. Decorative:
Available in variety of colors without using color lenses. It saves lots of energy and cuts down tremendously on material cost. Perfect for decor lighting, mood lighting, and perhaps adjusting the ambient light to the desired white tone.

  7. Versatile:
Extremely small size for the amount of light output. In fact, you can get 20,000 mcd from a LED smaller than quarter inch.

  8. Light Weight:
small size and minimal weight makes LED ideal for portables, flashlights, small projects and hobbyist.

  9. Solid State Technology:
LED is actually a semiconductor. It can easily be mass-produced and its functions can be controlled with a processor to achieve unique light effects that are impossible with other light sources.

  10. No Heat and No UV:
LED produces very little heat. Halogens can reach 1200F degrees when most LED’s operate at less than 100F degrees. No burning fingers or fire hazards. Also, LED produces no UV which makes it great for lighting precious artifacts or paintings.
