Are
you using lighting invented 125 years ago?
LIGHTING
REVOLUTIONIZED™
Incandescent
light bulbs were invented 125 years ago by Thomas Edison and very
little has changed since. More than 75% of the light sources we
use are of this technology! Fluorescent lights were invented in
the 1920s and are amongst the most efficient light sources available.
The drawbacks are; they must use ballasts to step-up the voltage,
are bulky in size and the old style take a long time to turn on.
Variations of these two technologies have been invented to improve
their shortcomings but nothing has addressed all of the challenges.
LIGHTING
REVOLUTIONIZED™
The
latest in lighting technology is Solid-state Lighting (SSL) which
overcomes most of the challenges of the other lighting technologies.
The most common device in SSL technology is Light Emitting Diode
(LED). It is a highly efficient technology for turning electricity
into light, rivaling the efficiency of fluorescent lamps.
Cyron's lighting products primarily use SSL as their light source.
It is our belief that SSL technology will replace 40% of our conventional
lights within the next decade. For certain applications this time
frame will be much more accelerated. There is a tramendous growth
in the automotive industry, traffic lights/signs, electronic devices,
etc.
So, why LED?
There are several advantages to LED lighting over the conventional
lights currently used:
